Vic: Tragic grain silo worker named
Police have released the name of a man who died after becoming submerged in canola
seed .. while working in a grain silo at Hamilton in Victoria's west.
He was 58-year-old BRUCE HARTWICH.
Mr HARTWICH entered the silo about 3.30pm (AEDT) yesterday to clear a blockage .. but
became trapped after sinking chest deep into the canola.
Despite the efforts of rescuers .. he died shortly before 8pm.
It was another seven and a half hours before Mr HARTWICH's body was eventually recovered.
Worksafe Victoria is investigating whether Mr HARTWICH's harness broke .. dropping
him into the canola.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
